Is it a PC or laptop? if it's a PC can you try wiping a different drive to see if that works. So it looks like nwipe/shredos is working fine in that it is identifying an issue with your hardware. Replacing the connector fixed the problem. The connector was unusually warm indicating resistance across the connector. I've had this problem if your power supply voltage is low to the drive which was caused by a bad molex connector. Could be bad sectors etc but that's only a maybe.Ģ. This can be caused by a number of things.ġ. Nwipe checks that there were no I/O errors and what you are seeing iiis an I/O error. So the picture tells me that nwipe successfully identified the drive but failed when it attempted to flush the data to the disc. Select the USB drive and within 10 seconds nwo When the pc/laptop is first switched on it probably says something about pressing an F key for the boot menu, you need to press the appropriate key to access you computers both menu where it shows available drives to boot from. You can then put the USB stick in your computer and then boot of it.

You then need to download Rufus from here to write the shredos.img file to your USB stick. You can then use winzip which can be downloaded from here to extract the file called shredos.img. The ShredOS v2020.02 image file can be downloaded here hereherehere

Where DBAN developement eventually came to a halt, nwipes development continued and in the last year has we have increased the speed of development. Nwipe's development started many years ago and was a fork of dwipe, the program DBAN uses. ShredOS is the USB bootable small operating system that boots straight into the program called nwipe.
